Antabuse can help patients with an alcohol abuse problem to stop drinking. When taken with alcohol, this medicine produces unpleasant effects. This medicine is part of a recovery program that includes medical supervision and counseling. It is not an ultimate cure.

Tofranil is also used on a short-term basis, along with the behavioral therapies, to treat bed-wetting in children aged 6 and older. Its effectiveness may decrease with longer use.
